Chase has been known as one of the most restrictive credit card issuers with their “5/24 rule” which states you can only get their cards if you have not opened five new accounts in the last 24 months.

Chase’s Sapphire family of cards are one of the most lucrative cards offering great signup bonus’ and their points currency, Ultimate Rewards (UR), is considered very valuable to those looking to transfer to partners or redeem for travel.

This product is available to you if you do not have any Sapphire card and have not received a new cardmember bonus for any Sapphire card in the past 24 months. If you are an existing Sapphire customer and would like this product, please call the number on the back of your card to see if you are eligible for a product change. You will not receive the new cardmember bonus if you change products.

This new update to Chase’s terms and conditions changes the wording to only allow a person to open one Sapphire branded card (plain, Preferred, Reserve) within that 24 month period.

If you’ve been on the edge of picking up a Chase Sapphire card now is the time to get it, recent data points suggest that Chase’s system isn’t fully updated yet and you can still open up two Chase Sapphire cards back to back to combine hard pulls.
