All premium cards now-a-days are going to varying degree of metal for the car. The Chase Sapphire Reserve was the premium card to kick it off with a layered metal finish that makes the card feel very premium. Earlier this year American Express began offering the Personal Platinum in metal with a new design, and now finally we have the Business Platinum coming out with a metal version.
American Express has teased the new design and metal finish for a couple months now slowly coming out with branding of the new card. Today (September 21st) you can start to request your metal card. It’s probably going to feel very similar to the Personal Platinum with its weight of 19 grams, more significant than the Chase Sapphire Reserve.
To sign up to get your own Business Platinum metal card visit this link: https://global.americanexpress.com/account-management/card-replacement and click through to request a replacement card, at the bottom of the lift of reasons why you want the card replaced will be “Request Metal Card.” Clicking through this option will automatically request your metal card to be sent to you and you will typically get it within one week. I requested my own metal card today and it says it will take 6 days to get here. I will have a follow up post to this when the card does come in and show off the sexyness of the card.
While the material your credit card is made out of really doesn’t matter so much, it does add to the feel and quality of the card. At the end of the day it more matters about the features and benefits of the card over anything else, this card definity is a great plus for the business traveler with 5x points for travel and lounge access.
