United Airlines Flight UA35 Loses Tire on Takeoff, Diverts to LAX After Landing Gear Incident

A United Airlines Boeing 777-200 bound for Osaka, Japan, suffered a dramatic incident shortly after takeoff from San Francisco International Airport (SFO) this afternoon.

United Airlines flight UA35, lost its left rear tire after lifting off from the runway. The tire reportedly separated from the aircraft and landed in a nearby parking lot, destroying several vehicles.

The pilots of UA35 were alerted to the missing tire by air traffic control and made the immediate decision to divert the aircraft to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The plane landed safely at LAX and was met by local fire rescue.

Emergency crews are currently on the scene at SFO to investigate the cause of the incident.
